A SELF-HELP ASSISTANCE PROGRAM
Helping families thrive since 1994
Our Story
A Self-help Assistance Program (ASAP) was created by two Peace Corps volunteers who met and married while teaching in rural Swaziland. The resilience and perseverance of the economically active poor to lift their families out of poverty - when given access to only knowledge and minimal resources - inspired Tom & Liz to take action.
ASAP was formed to provide sparks of hope - training & tools - that can ignite into flames of success.
ASAP's mission is to cultivate self-reliance and foster cross-cultural understanding by empowering families with the tools for success. Incorporated in 1992, ASAP has helped over 200,000 families increase their household income through training in managing savings groups, entrepreneurship, vocational skills, and education projects.
YOU can make a difference for a family striving to become self reliant. Volunteer, hold a tool drive, or post a fundraising event on Mighty Cause or Global Giving for ASAP. Check our Get Involved page for more opportunities to be a part of the success story.
YOU make ASAP's work possible. Your gift is tax-deductible and helps families thrive. Over 90% of your donation goes directly to projects that empower families. Corporate employees, your gift may be matched thru Benevity and Cybergrants.
